Cornell's main campus is in Ithaca, New York, one of the best college towns in the country.

Located at the south end of Cayuga Lake in the heart of the beautiful Finger Lakes region, Ithaca offers a breathtaking landscape of deep gorges and thundering waterfalls, rolling hills with farms and forests, and a lively community with shops, art galleries, and great places to eat (including the world-famous Moosewood Restaurant).

For information about things to do in the area—music, dance, cinema, sports, hiking, swimming, shopping, and more—see VisitIthaca.com or Cornell's Visiting Ithaca pages.

"I loved the nature that surrounds Ithaca—the lakes and the gorges are breathtaking." Emma Dragsdorf

I'm from a big city. Will I be bored if I come to Ithaca?

Some students planning to attend our on-campus summer program worry, before they arrive at Cornell, that they'll miss life in the big city. When they get here, however, they usually find that there's too much to do to be bored.

In fact, they say they appreciate Cornell's setting not only because it's gorgeous, but also because it allows them to focus on their courses, their friends, and their college experience, without the distractions of city life.
