ARCH 1300 An Introduction to Architecture: Lectures

Course description
This is a survey course that covers the many facets of architecture: history, design principles, preservation, landscape architecture, building technology, and cultural factors. Led by Department faculty, the course format comprises lectures, demonstrations and discussions, film screenings, and virtual tours of museum collections and important works of architecture. Frequent guest lecturers share their specific expertise, while the broader lessons are incorporated back into the design work in Studio. The Program is offered globally online, taking advantage of the latest platforms and techniques of remote learning.
Enrollment limited to: non-architecture majors in college, high school students in 11th and 12th grades, and any individuals with a minimum of a high school diploma interested in exploring the field of architecture.
Precollege high school students: You must also register for ARCH 1100: An Introduction to Architecture: Design Studio.
This course is part of the Introduction to Architecture Summer Program.
