Study on campus this summer and earn Cornell credits

If you're a high school student who lives nearby or plans to stay in the Ithaca area with your parent/guardian during your class, you may apply to take regular Cornell courses on the Ithaca campus during the summer sessions.

This is an unparalleled opportunity to study in person with Cornell instructors, challenge yourself with a college-level class, enhance your college application, and earn college credits.

The grades and credits you earn as a commuter will be recorded on an official Cornell transcript, may be shared on your college applications, and are generally transferable toward a degree at Cornell or elsewhere, at that institution's discretion.

Note: Before applying, please review the eligibility requirements. On-campus housing is not available to commuter students. If you wish to live on campus during the summer and take part in precollege activities, please refer to the Summer Residential Program.

Want to study in the fall/spring? Can't make it to campus?

If you're interested in studying at Cornell as a commuter student during the fall or spring semester, please contact the Precollege Studies director, Jim Schechter, at jas349@cornell.edu.

And if you can't make it to campus, you can take online classes in the summer and winter. To learn more, see online courses for high school students.
