Course description

PSP Biology for non-majors is a course designed to introduce students to the nature of modern biology as it is taught at Cornell and to prepare them to be successful in introductory biology. Using a combination of classroom techniques, including interactive lecture, study groups, problem-solving sessions, facilitated discussions, and collaborative presentations, the course focuses on selected topics that are normally covered in the introductory non-majors biology courses. In addition, the course seeks to develop in students transferable skills that incorporate successful strategies for the deep learning of modern Biology, such as critical thinking and reading, effective note-taking, and exam preparation. Grading is S-U only.
