Tuition for the Summer Residential Program
All credit courses offered through Cornell SCE are regular, credit-bearing Cornell University classes taught by Cornell instructors. The grades and credits you earn through these courses are recorded on an official Cornell University transcript. As such, these classes — and all credit-bearing offerings — are subject to the Cornell tuition rate set by the university's Board of Trustees.
The total charge for a three- or six-week Summer Residential Program comprises
- The tuition charge, based on the number of credits you take: The current tuition rate is $1,840 per credit.
- The residential charge, based on the length of your course(s): The charge for dining, housing, activities, and health fee is $2,879 for three weeks in residence or $5,714 for six weeks in residence.
- The application fee of $75.
- Cornell's student health insurance plan, if required (see below).

- For a three-credit program: $5,520 tuition plus $2,879 residential charge = $8,399
- For a four-credit program: $7,360 tuition plus $2,879 residential charge = $10,239

Six-week options

- For two courses, totaling six credits: $11,040 tuition plus $5,714 residential charge = $16,754
- For two courses totaling seven credits: $12,880 tuition plus $5,714 residential charge = $18,594
- For two courses totaling eight credits: $14,720 tuition plus $5,714 residential charge = $20,434
What's included?
The tuition/academic charge
- This charge covers tuition for enrollment in regular Cornell University undergraduate credit-bearing courses.
The residential charge
- The cost of accommodations in a Cornell residence hall with 24/7 supervision.
- A full meal plan.
- Access to student life and 24/7 safety services.
- The Cornell Student Health Fee.
- Participation in learning activities, admissions workshops, one-on-one admissions counseling sessions, and a wide range of social activities.
The charges above do not cover the cost of the application fee, health insurance plan (if required), books, supplies, or travel to Cornell.

If you live within the U.S.
The required student health fee is included in your residential charge. You may choose whether to also enroll in Cornell’s Student Health Plan (SHP).
If you live outside the U.S.
The required student health fee is included in your residential charge. You also are required to enroll in Cornell's Student Health Plan (SHP) for the length of your program. There is an additional charge for this coverage that will be added to your program charge above.
The fees for Cornell's SHP in 2025 are $638 for a three-week session or $957 for the six-week session.
Payment deadlines & methods
- A $1,500 nonrefundable deposit is required by May 9, 2025, to secure a spot in the program. This deposit will be applied toward your total program charge.
- Your final payment is due by May 30, 2025.
International students
It is critical that you submit your total program charge as soon as possible so that we can issue you an I-20. Please visit our international student applicants page for visa information and English Language Proficiency requirements.
Official enrollment
You are not officially enrolled until you have submitted full payment and completed all required forms.
Program spaces are limited and other precollege and undergraduate students may be requesting seats in your course(s). You may lose your place if your class reaches its maximum enrollment before you submit your payment and complete your required forms. It is to your advantage to pay and submit your paperwork as soon as possible.
