As a Cornell University Precollege Summer Program graduate, parent, or friend, you have a special opportunity to make a difference and perhaps even change the life of a young person through the Precollege Summer Program Scholarship Fund.

We've created this special fund for scholarships and other gifts to enable deserving students to attend the Precollege Summer Program.

"Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity. Thanks to your kindness, I was able to attend the Cornell University Precollege Summer Program. It was a short three weeks, but those three weeks have changed my life. Attending the Cornell University Precollege Summer Program showed me what I am capable of accomplishing and how to do it."

The need is great

Last year, more than 250 students requested financial assistance, but we could make only 40 awards, and most of those were for partial tuition scholarships.

Precollege Summer Program scholarships will be given to the most well-qualified students with the most financial need. In some cases, they may be the first in their family to attend college. (See our financial aid page.)

"I can truly tell you I have never experienced anything like the incredible six weeks I spent at Cornell University this past summer. This magnificent opportunity not only taught me more about my areas of interest, but also broadened my perspective about different people and cultures I would have never been exposed to in my home town. Attending Cornell University really opened my eyes to how college will be and the skills I'll need to really balance my time. If it weren't for your generosity, I would never have had this life-changing experience."

How do I contribute?

I invite you, as someone who really understands the value and extraordinary benefit of attending Cornell's Precollege Summer Program, to join this fund. I hope you will visit our How to Give page and consider contributing as generously as you can to allow more young people to have an experience that most Cornell University Precollege Summer Program alumni characterize as "the best summer of my life!"

Here's what the Cornell University Precollege Summer Program parent Denise Markt had to say about giving to the program:

"Please accept this small donation toward the 'Book Award' fund. Growing up with my single mom in often challenging financial circumstances I knew early on college was the only path to a brighter future. Many doors were open along the way by college staff and teachers. I am humbled and grateful for their generosity and happy to give this small contribution back."
