Course description

This Career and Clinical Seminar meets twice a week on live Zoom during the three-week course. Although we won't be able to cover everything you've always wanted to know about psychology, we will be able to touch on some of the more exciting and pertinent issues. What are the biochemical aspects of mental illness? What can you do to help a friend who is thinking of suicide? What causes stress and what can you do to develop resilience and decrease stress? What are the challenges and successes of someone living with schizophrenia?

You'll have time to learn and practice basic counseling skills and create a positive vision board. We will also have time to talk about decision making about careers, applying to colleges and what it is like to be a Cornell student.

Besides the seminar times there will be many opportunities for group office hours and individual office hours for more individual questions and discussions.

Although all students in this class are interested in psychology; many are thinking of careers in teaching, business, medicine, law, labor relations and many other fields.
