Course description

FREN 1120 is the equivalent level of FREN 1220 and also meets 5 times a week, but it is offered in the summer as opposed to FREN 1220, which is offered in the spring. In order to achieve the same goals, this course is designed to provide students with a thorough grounding in French language and an introduction to intercultural competence as preparation for real-world application or eventual work in literary or cultural studies. Classes provide context-and genre-specific practice in speaking, listening, reading, and writing, as well as analytical skills for grammar, in order to help students develop the necessary tools for becoming independent language learners.

Prerequisites

LPF 35-46 or FREN 1210. If you want to take this course as an absolute beginner, you need to have a strong command of another Romance language. Please contact instructor if you have questions about placement.
