CPIU goes online for summer 2021

The formal CPIU on-campus program will be offered again in summer 2022.

In the meantime, to facilitate access to Cornell classes, SCE is waiving the CPIU application process and encouraging students to enroll in one or more of our online summer courses and earn up to fifteen credits during the entire summer period (June-August).

The tuition charges below are based on Cornell's 2020 rate of $1,520 per credit.

Six-week program charge

June 19–August 4, 2020

    Covers $9,120 tuition, $3,780 campus-life fee, and $803 Cornell Student Health Plan

Campus-life fee

  • The cost of housing in a Cornell residence hall supervised by residential advisors

  • Local and on-campus bus pass
  • Academic workshops, social events, and on and off-campus group activities

Cornell's Student Health Plan (SHP)

To ensure that you have access to campus health services, you are required to enroll in Cornell’s Student Health Plan (SHP). For information, see the "Health insurance and health fee" section of the health services page. To enroll, visit the Student Health Plan (SHP) section of the CPIU to-do list.

Note to six-week students: You should receive all required immunizations prior to arriving at Cornell. (Immunizations are not required for three-week students.)

What's not included?

  • Transportation to or from the program

How to pay

To submit payment from outside the U.S., visit sce.flywire.com.

When setting up your Flywire account, use the same email that you used for your CPIU application.

Flywire allows you to pay securely from any bank, generally in your home currency. For more information, visit the Flywire help page.

Payment deadline

The total program charge is due in our office within five business days from the date of your acceptance letter. If you are admitted within a week before or at the application deadline, the total program charge is due on the day of your acceptance.

You are not officially registered in CPIU, enrolled in your classes, or assigned housing until your total program charge is paid in full and posted to your account.

Can I get a refund if I withdraw from my program?

To withdraw from this program, you must

  • Send written notification of your wish to withdraw to cusp@cornell.edu.
  • Your official date of withdrawal will be the date on which this email is sent.

A percent of your program charge may be returned to you, depending on when you withdraw.

If you withdraw without officially notifying the CPIU office in writing, you will not receive a refund.

No refund will be given to any student dismissed from a program.

If you want to appeal the refund schedule based on extenuating circumstances, download the petition form (PDF), complete it, and submit it by email to the SCE review committee at cusce@cornell.edu. Please include "Refund petition" in the subject line of your email. The form will be reviewed by committee, and you will be notified if your appeal is approved.
