Notes:

This class introduces students to architecture criticism and other forms of public discourse such as exhibitions and performance. It will familiarize students with various forms of architectural writing: architectural criticism in popular media, architecture journals, social media, and more. It will also explore how architecture creates public conversations in exhibitions and public space. Together students will look historically at the relationship of writing to architecture, analyze the current landscape of architecture and public discourse, and become architecture critics in their own rights. We will use open source software to collectively produce critical reading lists and then make an architecture zine which we will launch at the end of the course.
