"Cornell's Adult University presents new faculty-led education vacations for 2020"

Cornell SCE , 2019

For over fifty years, Cornell's Adult University (CAU) has been leading adventurous learners around the globe in the company of Cornell university's finest faculty. Passionate about their subjects and with access to behind-the-scenes tours, these faculty leaders ensure that their traveling companions are able to delve deeply into the culture and history of the places they visit.

In 2020, CAU will lead study tours to destinations in South America, Africa, Europe, and North America. Tours include a cruise up the Nile with history professor Eric Tagliacozzo; exploring medieval history in Italy with Near-Eastern Studies professor Ross Brann; and witnessing a total solar eclipse in Argentina with Arts and Sciences dean Ray Jayawardhana; and many more.

Trips closer to home in 2020 include learning about the history and culture of making and drinking wine in Ithaca, NY with faculty from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the College of Arts and Sciences; a spring theater weekend in New York City with Glenn Altschuler, dean of Cornell’s School of Continuing Education and Summer Sessions; and a presidential election seminar in New Paltz, NY also with Altschuler and Adam Seth Levine, an associate professor in government.

With thoughtful faculty guidance and companionship, customized itineraries, and top-notch accommodations, CAU study tours make it easy for participants to enjoy their journeys to the fullest. One CAU traveler, Bob Scott '73, described his experience as "simply terrific—the surroundings, the natural wonders, the accommodations, the instructor." Another, Joan Weigle, wrote, "The stimulating lectures of Cornell faculty set the stage for our explorations and many hands-on experiences. The planning was superb."
