Churchill: Walking with Destiny

A few hours after Neville Chamberlain resigned as the British prime minister, Winston Churchill, who had conducted a lonely struggle throughout the 1930s against appeasing the Nazis, began to assemble his Cabinet. β€œI was conscious of a profound sense of relief,” he recalled. β€œAt last I had the authority to give direction over the whole scene. I felt as if I were walking with destiny, and that all my past life had been but a preparation for this hour and for this trial.”
