Opening Day Schedules
Here's a general schedule for your first day at Cornell!
Some helpful links as you navigate campus:
- A-Lot parking
- Bailey Hall (Convocation)

- Visitor parking (Most parking on campus is free on Sundays, but be sure to check signs)
We highly recommend that students, parents, and guardians attend the 2:00 p.m. Convocation in Bailey Hall. If your parents or guardians are not able to make it to Cornell, they can watch the live stream.
8:00–11:30 a.m.
Move in
Follow signs to A-Lot parking and designated dorm parking. Students will receive room keys, Cornell ID card, and Cornell swag at check in.
NOTE: Only Precollege students will be allowed in residence halls. Parents and guardians are invited to enjoy refreshments at the welcome tent (weather permitting) during this time.

North Campus residence halls and A-Lot parking, off Pleasant Grove Road
8:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
Medication drop-off
Students must drop off all over-the-counter and/or prescription medication with nurse Jada Torney at the Precollege Wellness Desk in Room 105 by 4:00 p.m.
Robert Purcell Community Center
11:30 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
Free time: Explore campus and have lunch
Students can use their Cornell ID card at the dining halls and on-campus cafes. Meal Plan begins at lunch. Parents/guardians may buy lunch with a debit/credit card (no cash).
Morrison Dining, on-campus cafe, or off-campus restaurant
2:00–3:00 p.m.
Convocation
The Dean of Cornell’s School of Continuing Education, instructors, the Residential Director, and residential staff members will welcome students, parents, and guardians to the program and share important information.
Bailey Hall
3:00–4:00 p.m.
Formal student sign-in and goodbyes
Students formally sign in and say goodbyes to parents and guardians outside the residence halls. NOTE: Only Precollege students are allowed in residence halls.

First Evening Schedule for Students
4:00–5:00 p.m.
Group meetings
Students will participate in group meetings with their Residential Counselor (RC).

Large-group icebreakers
Students will take part in activities designed to help begin building connections.

Dinner with RC group

7:30–9:00 p.m.
Trivia night and ice cream social
Join the residential staff and fellow students for Trivia Night and an Ice Cream Social.

Dorm time / lights out
Students turning in early must inform their RC.
