Why we call our trips Education Vacations

Education is at the heart of our trips, so our itineraries include discussions and lectures by your CAU faculty leader along with visits to noteworthy places of interest and/or activities that bring this content alive.

Lectures may take place in a hotel or cruise ship lounge or on-site at the places we visit.

To prepare intellectually for your study tour, you'll receive a welcome letter from the CAU faculty leader with suggestions for books, articles, or other materials to read or view so that you can gain some background knowledge prior to the trip.

While traveling, your faculty leader will present content that draws upon their area(s) of expertise—culture, history, politics, ecology, etc.—and that connects directly to the various sites on the itinerary, giving you in-depth knowledge of the destination.

You'll have plenty of opportunities to ask questions and discuss topics of interest with your faculty leader throughout the trip.

What are the other participants like?

CAU travelers are known for their great camaraderie and interest in compelling subjects.

Whether traveling alone or with a significant other, friend, or family member, you'll enjoy the wonders of the world with others who share your curiosity and sense of adventure.

Will I have any free time?

While our itineraries are planned to maximize our time together, we also intentionally plan for some free time and meals on your own to allow you the freedom to see a place of interest not on the itinerary, shop for souvenirs, and dine where you choose.

Our programs typically kick off with a welcome reception or meal where you'll meet the faculty leader, the CAU host and/or tour manager, and the rest of the group.
