Learn the art of casting, rigging & fly tying

Discover the fascinating world of fly fishing and experience the joys of being outdoors during this active course. We'll learn about the many facets of fly fishing and teach you the essential skills needed to fly fish on your own.

As we wade into the world of fly fishing, we'll cover the fundamentals of the sport, including equipment, knots, rigging, casting, fly tying, fly selection and presentation, reading the water, fish handling, and water safety.

Field trips to nearby streams throughout the week will offer you the opportunity to catch cold and warm water species including trout, bass, and panfish.

CAU will provide all fly-fishing equipment for the class. However, participants 16 years and older are responsible for purchasing a seven-day New York State freshwater fishing license prior to arrival on campus.
