After his first exam at Georgia Regents University Medical School, Michael Young realized that his study habits needed to change. Although he had read and reread the assigned material, he had not been able to retrieve important information and apply concepts during the exam. After reviewing some research on learning, Young began to stop while studying and ask himself questions, even though slowing down with a test date looming and so much material to cover made him nervous. By his second year, Young had moved toward the top of his class.
